Graphics card not working properly

So, after two years of saving up my money, I was finally able to purchase the parts for my first build via new egg. I set up everything, accordingly (I had built other computers for my friends). However, upon first boot, my graphics card wasn't displaying anything, so I had to use the onboard graphics (as I am now). I went into device manager, and after about 10 minutes of scanning for hardware changes, my graphics card finally popped up. I installed the drivers, rebooted, and set the primary display to PCIe. Everything works fine, unless I turn the computer off for a couple of hours. When I boot after a few hours, no signal comes out of my graphics card and I have to plug my monitor back into the motherboard and repeat the exact some steps. I do not know what is going on, and I've been so stressed the past few days trying to fix it that I'm about ready to send it back.
On a side note, I don't no if this is related, but my monitor sometimes goes straight to sleep when I do plug it into the motherboard and when that happens, I have to turn it off for about 30 minutes until the problem fixes itself. I've already tried re-seating my RAM.

Specs:
-Asus P8Z77-VLK
-Asus GTX 670
- Intel i5 3570k (Ivy)
- 8gb (2x4gb)of Corsair Vengeance RAM
- Cooler Master M2 Silent Pro 2 620W
- Windows 7 (64-bit)

You have onboard graphics disabled in your BIOS?

I wasn't able top find that option in my BIOS. Besides, I thought it was supposed to do that automatically once it detected a graphics card?

After you have found your Graphics Card on device manager you should download the drivers for your GPU.

Regards.

I can get it to where it works properly, but if I shut it down or even just put it in sleep mode, it won't display anything when I start it up.
