ld a computer and I already have a case. I don't know what kind of case though. What I mean is what kind of motherboard will it fit? It is a gateway case and I want to put an asus m5a97 am3+ Motherboard. The case is from the dx series from I think 5+ years ago. It has windows vista.

If it's a Gateway case, it is likely a mATX case. Which means that board won't fit. Either get an mATX/ mini ITX motherboard, or get a new mid-tower (ATX) case.

A matx has has 3-4 slots in the back. Mid size case has 7-8 slots in the back.

edit:A Asus m5a97 motherboard needs a atx case (7-8 slots in the back of the case).
