The tv is really cheap and the picture quality is not bad from up close. But i have no idea how it would do as a computer monitor. I dont want it lagging or any other issues. I can deal with a little bit of things but dont want to have a super bad experience.

If you require only a monitor buy a monitor instead of a TV as they are cheaper as the don't need all the aditional TV equipment and hardware.However the one you suggested is very cheap, meaning build quality may be poor and it may have a short life expectancy and may not be reliable.Stick to a reknowned brand and 39" is by far way too much overkill, try something like;

it has a higher resolution than that TV and has a much less response time, meaning lagless playback with very high clarity.
I've been using TVs as monitors for years, they work pretty well. My old one was a Polaroid 42" 1080p that would only display clearly as 1200x1024, but it was still pretty awesome not being restricted to sitting a foot from the screen, means you can mount it on the wall and use it as both. Right now I have a 40" Seiki that I got for a song 2 black Fridays ago, and it's still looking and performing great, it is 120Hz, but the panel only runs at 60 anyways, so no worries there. The only real thing to look at is the 6.5ms GTG time, it's not bad. but not great, so if you have a really nice graphics card, you might notice, if youu're only running 60 - 80 FPS you might not notice. Mine is 3ms GTG and for the price I couldn't be happier. I will never have a monitor as a monitor again, just not worth the premium.
