Wierd problem: my PC keeps shutting down without any warning and for no apparent reason. Sometimes it would work for hours under heavy load with no issues, other times it would barely enter Windows and kick the bucket.
The temperatures are allright as far as I can tell, and all the fans seem to be working properly. No component is overclocked.

System specs: AMD Athlon 64 X2 5400+ Black Edition CPU, Kingmax 2GB DDR2 800 MHz (1x2GB), Maxtor 500 GB HDD (SATA1), AsRock 960GC-GS FX mobo, Thermaltake TR2-500 power supply (500W), Gainward GeForce GT 630 video card with 2GB vRAM, Arctic Cooling Freezer Xtreme CPU cooler, Windows XP 32-bit SP3.

Steps taken so far:
- Removed computer from case, plugged in every component one by one.
- Replaced old mobo and video card with the ones specified above.
- Replaced power button and power cable.

Any advice you can give me before I go out shopping for a new power supply?

@hang-the-9: I have a spare RAM stick and I'll have a go with it, however I don't have a spare PSU at hand. If all else fails I'll buy a new one.

@CharlesLam: You might be on to something there. I've seen reboots/BSODs caused by failing hard drives, but never a shut down/power off situation. I'm a bit afraid to install new software or run extensive tests, but I do have an old IDE drive that's still alive and kicking. If the RAM switch doesn't help I'll try switching the HDD.

I'll keep you guys posted.
