Okay so I downloaded this thing and it oepend a notepad and said for this program to work I need to answer a survey on this other link. I did and each question was basically a download for a program which would give me the key to install what I originally wanted. I downloaded flappy bird. And it was infected of course. Im a idiot.

AVG says that it was contained but it kept trying to infect so I downloaded UNLOCKER to delete the file in recent download that I was unable to delete.

I did a full system scan while going to bed and low and behold when I COME BACK THERE IS A SETUP.LOG NOTEPAD VIRUS NOTE THAT SAID after current date /time

"DUMMMMMMMMMMMYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY LATEST KILLER"

this was on my desktop, made me very sad I removed all constant attempts at infecting my comp through avg and I just did a ENTIRE system restore....am I safe? This never happened before and I succumbed through tiredness and stress.

hi tomland ,
i would say no you are not safe system restore can also be infected so with a restore you can still have the virus.
i would try the following , try this ,
http://housecall.trendmicro.com/au/
this is a free online virus scanner i have used many times and it works well .
after using that i would suggest you download and run malwarebytes,
https://www.malwarebytes.org/
click on the free version download
please let me know the results

Housecall is not an installed anitivirus program as such it is a one time online scanner with a huge virus database which will not affect any installed virus program , i think it a bit unfair to say tomland is stupid , we all have made mistakes and we live and learn

No, he was calling the virus guy stupid lol. Well, I did run malewarebyes and it did detect like 100 things but all under

PUP.Optional.AdvancedSystemProtector.A

Which I went to downloadmalewarebytes and I think a popup came up which I then downloaded.....and it said it was actually "advancedsystem protection" program which has a ton of crappy spyware or w/e.

I mean malware didn't find anything major....Like I said avg did say all as dealt with, though it had like 20 attempts at infecting my computer. I just hope that m comp is clean now. I will do that first link and san malware again.

Also, Im not sure if full restore is the right word. I did a complete re install of windows 8. Idk if you thought I meant restore point.

Housecall scan did not find a threat. Though I am still worried because flappy bird kept trying to access .exe but I would deny before I re installed everything.

Wait, this is weird though. Windows 8 has my apps on it already?

Im kind of confused, wouldn't this be completely erased? If not, maybe the virus is on my pc somehow...

Well, It just said all filed would be lost and stuff. I had to put in the product key. Maybe those apps are just linked to my windows account but not pc related?

Oh Okay, under the app page it says apps NOT installed on this PC, surf report league of legends, etc. Then it says apps installed on the username of my previous windows name as installed. So I guess Im good.

I really hope its gone thanks for all your replies I do appreciate it.
