Hello,

I have planned to upgrade my Graphics Card to a Radeon R9 270X however as always there is a Nvidia competitor!

So my question is, based on performance, reliability, noise and power consumption etc which would be better for the money the GTX660 2GB OC or the Radeon R9 270X 2GB OC?

They are both almost identical in price so this isn't a problem!

Personally I've always used Nvidia but I would like to know truely which of these cards is the better one.

I really appreciate any contributions!

Thanks :)

Although I am a nVidia lover myself, the R9 270X would provide more horsepower.

Here's a Summary Benchmark to keep on track:
http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/MSI/R9_270X_Gaming/2...

So..
1) The GTX660 is slower.
2) The GTX660Ti is about the same.
3) The GTX760 is faster (it would be closer to 15% with the Gigabyte GTX760).

So here are the contenders that I think are the best choices:
MSI R9-270X ($210): http://pcpartpicker.com/part/msi-video-card-r9270xgamin...

GTX760 ($245): http://pcpartpicker.com/part/gigabyte-video-card-gvn760...

I didn't include a GTX660Ti because the one I felt best compared was $240 (Asus) so it made no sense with a good $245 GTX760.

NVidia vs AMD:
AMD:
- Mantle (a few games but the future is uncertain)

NVidia:
- PhysX
- G-Sync (requires new G-Sync monitor)
- Shadowplay (game recording with about 5% frame rate impact. Works really well)
- SLI better than Crossfire currently (only matters if considering a 2nd card later)

Summary:
If your budget is stretched well at $210 the MSI R9-270X is a nice card, but if you can manage a bit more I strongly recommend the Gigabyte GTX760.

The GTX760 cost increase is almost exactly the same as its performance increase so from a raw performance viewpoint they are the same VALUE.

It would be helpful to give an actual reason.

Thanks for all the replies! I decided to go with the Radeon as that was already stretching my price range a little so the GTX760 wasn't a liable option but thanks for the suggestion :)
