Another question for you nice folks:

Trying to fix my friend's Chromebook with a cracked monitor (no display at all.) He only has HDMI out, no VGA port.

I haven't been able to find a screen replacement (other than the manufacturer $$$.)

We have a VGA flat screen for him to use but it seems like the HDMI --> VGA converter would be just as expensive as a cheap flat screen. ($70-ish.)

Is there a cheaper solution? And Does anyone know where I can find a replacement screen?

Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the reply

A friend of mine told me that we need the exact model number and revision from the back of the screen. So we ended up taking the Chromebook apart. Once we found the correct specs our ebay search proved fruitful. We replaced the screen for around $50. The disassembly was pretty nerve racking though -- very easy to break it.

Note to others: You have to make sure the bracket around the screen is the right size. There are several versions out there and the model numbers are exactly the same. Just make sure it says it's SPECIFICALLY FOR the Chromebook 303c12.
