Hi to All,

I have some problem with the internet at school lab. from a few days. This morning I find that on the router WAN port the led is flashing continuously even in the absence of network traffic. I replaced the network cable with another and suddenly internet it's back alive (led is not flashing aymore, except obviously when there's internet traffic).

It is possible that the cable was the problem, or is just a coincidence?

Thanks!

Possible? Yes. Examine the old cable for signs the wires are pulling loose from the connector. If all is fine, put it back in and see if the original problem reoccurs. Or try the cable in another location.

Both possible and probable. The connectors are the first thing to go on any cable so the connector is probably not making a good connection, either way you have the internet back I'd recommend recycling the old Ethernet cable and going on with life.

First of all, thank you for the answers.
Now, internet is ok, but I have another question just for understanding:
Why on the router WAN the led was flashing continuosly if there was no connection?

Anyway, Thank You.
