My first time trying to overclock an APU. I've got a A10-7850k on an Asus A88XM-PLUS. On first boot up and without doing anything the MB tuned the CPU to 4.1 and GPU to 900. Couple of questions:

1) What is realistically achievable? I read posts suggesting a CPU clock of 4.4 should be possible, but not sure how much the GPU can be pushed. I'm using a 212 evo cooler in an R4 case and everything is currently cool and silent

2) is there a user friendly guide to the Asus bios. It does not seem particularly intuitive. Would I be better using AMD overdrive? I'm finding the memory and gpu options most baffling

I don't really need to overclock, everything i do and play is running smoother and faster than before, but would like to push it as far as I can without excessive noise. Any thoughts are welcome

That's a good MB. It should be fine for O/C'ing. But do it from BIOS. The APU has an unlocked CPU clock multiplier which makes it a snap to OC. So just raise it a click at a time, boot, and run something like Intel Burn Test for its default 10 pass run.

If it passes, go back to BIOS and raise the multi again. When you reach an unstable clock, you can either back off to what was stable or raise the vCore a tad and try again. But keep an eye on core temps when O/C'ing. The APU's max is 72C.
I'm not familiar with the max vcore of that APU, so I can't say how high to raise it if you want to do that. I don't like raising the vcore if I don't have to. Voltage kills quicker than anything.

Note: Don't try O/C'ing with the stock cooler. Get a good after market cooler before you do any O/C'ing.
