I currently run an NIVIDA surround setup with a peripheral monitor above the surround configuration.

A couple of days ago while gaming my middle monitor suddenly went black then started displaying again as if nothing had happened. This has happened a couple times since the first incident.

The other monitors stay active and have no visible change in output. The sound from the game still plays through the speakers and I can move my cursor around in the other monitors so the computer isn't frozen.

The monitor in question is not losing power (power led is staying lit and there is no power cycling).

I'm wondering if my monitor is dying or if there is an issue with my GPU

GPU - EVGA GTX 770
DSIPLAY - ASUS VS228NL-P

I had this happen as well and, unfortunately, Nvidia doesn't seem to care enough about it to fix it. After clean installs of the driver, jumping through hoops to make sure that I didn't have anything left over from an old ATI install and finally even doing a fresh install of the OS (it was about time for that anyway), the only thing they could suggest to fix it was to roll back to the driver from March 2013.

Not optimal any way you look at it, but I will say that I haven't had the issue since. (Note: I"m using the 650Ti card, but it's basically the same driver set.)

I had this happen in a game also. Every 15min or so the screen would go black, but I could still hear the game sounds. I usually got a display driver crashed error message. It turned out to be a problem with the EVGA precision software. For some reason the game and Precision did not work well together.

Weird, I am running precision and the game is in fullscreen windowed so maybe that could be adding to the problem, but it threw me a curveball today and went blank while I was just on the desktop..
