Occasionally I hear these strange sounds when listening to music or anything on my laptop. This started recently, about 4 days ago, it was not a problem when I first got the laptop or the headphones. Its not really a background buzzing and doesn't happen all the time. It seems certain frequencies or something sets it off since one of my songs causes it way more than anything else. If I were to describe the sound, I would say its chirp like, maybe a like higher pitched DJ turn table scratch. The noise is very electronic.

As far as what is causing it, I have no clue. It only happens on headphones or ear buds, not on the laptop's speakers. It seems to happen most often when I stream from Google Play music, and least often if I play the mp3 file on windows media player. Youtube causes the glitch less than Google Play, and MusicBee causes the glitch slightly more than windows media player.

I tried reinstalling the Realtek drivers. I messed around with MaxxAudio settings with no avail. I tried unplugging the system and playing on battery, but the noise still persists. The issue is not with my headphones since my phone plays the same audio flawlessly.

Headphones are Audio Technica ATH-M40x, ear buds are cheap skull candies.

Sound Glitch - This was recorded from my headphones.

I rolled back the driver, disabling or uninstalling Waves MaxxAudio in the process. I have no clue what happened to the application, but the issue seems to be gone. For anyone with a Haswell XPS 15, don't use the latest audio drivers from dell.
