Hello

I'm building new PC for my friend's son and until now everything went fine. I have to mention I never buildt anything AMD always Intel, till I tried to connect front panel usb 3.0 cable (cable is doubled, and big, contains 19 pins) to the mainboard. There's no connection. Do I need special interface or something to connect this big usb cable to the mainboard? Is that COM1module? Basically, those two ports on front of the case are simply useless if I cannot connect them somehow,

I bought for this build new Corsair Carbide case:

Please guys help, I dont wanna disappoint this kid and give him really good PC.

Thank you and have a good Easter

That motherboard doesn't have any usb3.0 headers if I remember correctly. I used it in my last build for my cousin, put a fx 6300 into it. There should be a connector to make the usb 3.0 into a usb 2.0, you'll sacrifice 3.0 speeds with it, but at least get a functioning usb connection.

You need a pci card that has usb 3.0 usually the motherboard itself will say whether or not it supports usb 3.0 on the front panel. if your motherboard does not have that connector, (usually near the 24 pin power connector) then you sadly have bought a motherboard that doesnt have front panel usb 3,0 compatibility out of the box

White (sometimes black) motherboard headers are for usb 2.0. Blue header (which are larger) are usb 3.0 headers. Looking on the picture of that motherboard via newegg. nets me to believe there are no usb 3.0 headers. Then reading through the specs on that motherboard, also reveals there are no usb 3.0 headers. Then going through the manual that I have for that same motherboard, reveals there are no usb 3.0 headers. Yes, there are 2 usb 3.0 ports, but those are on the back and are ports not headers.

So, to put it shortly, there aren't any usb 3.0 headers, but there should be either in the case accessories, or motherboard accessories some kind of conversion. Going back through the internals of the case/motherboard that I build for my cousin (him on the phone as I talk through it with him), my case offered a usb 3.0 header, but on that same cable kind of like a y connection was also a usb 2.0 header. If yours doesn't come like that or offer any sort of connector, then I would search online to find a connector. Which I don't see why they wouldn't make. If that yields nothings, then im sorry but from usb ports will be unusable.

Thank you, this is exactly what I was trying to find, and problem is solved. #i'm going to buy it right now and reconnect it, and should be working correctly.

Thanks one more time to all of you for solving this problem and have great Easter!
