I understand the G46 is a G45 [ which also had issues ] with bigger heatsinks . So yes its still not a wise choice even if it is less likely to have problems

There is an FX 6300 + Asrock Extreme3 bundle for $129. I trust that more than the MSI combo

EDIT : just found these

I use an Asrock 970 EXTREME4 , which is identical to an EXTREME3 except that its wired up for possible SLI and crossfire . It runs a little hotter than a board with more power phases but I have run my FX 6300 at 4.8 Ghz with no problems . Apart from noise .
Now its dialed back to 4.3 Ghz and quiet with the Scythe Ninja cooler

Not bad but there are some things i would change. motherboard, cpu, cooler
If you haven't ordered it yet, my suggestion:
If you not overclocking, you can not buy a cpu cooler and use the stock.

Original build -2
The cpu cooler is probably worse than the standard cooler
The motherboard will catch fire if you try and overclock .. or maybe even if you dont

You get back a few points for including 1.5 volt RAM , unlike suzteras build , so you narrowly avoid a -4

The antec ONE case is currently $35
The 500 watt psu is fine
use 1.5 volt RAM
The gigabyte board is good . The ASUS M5A97 R2.0 is too
If you are buying a decent aftermarket cooler then get the FX 6300 . Same chip as an FX 6350 clocked lower . Only difference is the stock cooler

I already changed the CPU cooler. But ill see what Micro Center has to offer in store. They also have the FX6360 bundled with the MSI 970A-G46 for 150 Dollars. Is the G46 also crap like the G43?
