getting the Sennheiser G4ME ONE head set and what a external sound card need advice

i have a Asus MAXIMUS VI GENE atx but only 2 pci slots so dont want to use a internal sound card
as i want to run my gpu sli in a year or 2
im getting the Sennheiser G4ME ONE headset and been reading i need a sound card my MB wont be adequate on its own
been looking at external sound cards do they work as good? will they they work my headset fully?
been searching cant find much online about this
i will only be using for pc gaming

Keep in mind it doesn't have to be a pc related manufacteror, I think some of the professional audio companies make much more quality gear then people like Creative and Asus.

I've dabbled in sound editing on my pc, and I've had nice reference monitors, M-Audio interfaces/headphone amps. They are all dedicated components and work just as well if not better than those 2 boxes you listed.
