crazy stuff just happened. I was watching youtube vids on my dv6700 through my hdmi and my power cord tip just melted and burnt my hand! Both my cord and battery are newer. now my computer only holds a 30 min charge... should i not keep it plugged in? what just happened? i unplugged it and let it rest and seems ok.(other than the fact it only plugs in half way) its a old computer with little value obviously but its my internet/school work computer.

Solution
Hi , MalakiArtook
it is advisable not to keep it plugged in , it may do serious damage to your laptop and its internal components , then you will have more trouble than just a melted chord. i would purchase a new powerpack with chord before using it again ! , has it done any damage to the power socket or your laptop ?

No, the computer is fine. It's a POS to begin with but all good otherwise. I'm on it now. It just sucks because it my only computer atm. My brand new gaming rig isn't operational at the moment due to a hard drive failure and the old lady needs this for school. The hdd isn't compatible with my desktop. I guess I could just upload her school work to a thumb drive for now...

why is the hard drive not compatible with your new gaming rig ?
it does not matter that it is a 2.5"hdd instead of a 3.5" hdd it will still work you will just have to reinstall a new operating system on it to suit your new build as the motherboard , chipset etc will be different
also how do you know the HDD has failed on your other build
