Hey guys,
I am trying to decide for my build which GPU I should get. Now this decision is very tough for me which is why I brought it here, hoping you guys could point me in the right direction. Anyways the MSI GTX 760 I had planned for my build is about $260. That said, the 3GB MSI R9 280 is only $20 dollars more! I saw this deal and I freaked out because, although I was originally going to use an AMD card, I realized that the Nvidia shield might be a cool addition later on for pc gaming on the go. However, from what I have read, the R9 280 is superior to the GTX 760. So, my question is, is the shield worth it to lose out on what I believe is a great deal on an outstanding card? In other words, if the R9 280 is a better card after all, should I give up the Nvidia shield oppurtunity?

Also, $280 is basically the farthest I would prefer to extend my budget, as I want a well-rounded pc, not a strictly gaming pc, otherwise I would probably pick up the 770.

Are they really? Wow, well if that's true then I'm kind of relieved, as I am curious about the shield

They are about equal, 280 will be better in resolutions above 1080.

If Nvidias features are important to you the 760 will still max most games at 1080p.

just get a 760 since its cheaper. i would buy evga for their legendary warranty and customer service, but msi is very good too, ive owned two of their twin frozr 3 cards and loved them, a gtx570, an amd hd7950(same thing as the r9-280), the 7950 started dying on me a few months ago, i sent it in for rma and msi cut me a check for $284, $15 more than a paid for the card lol.

Cool, I don't plan on playing in higher resolutions so I will probably stick with the 760, but anyone can feel free to post their opinions about the Nvidia shield

I own the 7950 which is the same thing as the 280. I bought the 7950 because the 760 wasn't out yet. I view the 760 as the better card. Similar performance, lower power draw. Seeing as it's cheaper, I'd get it.

Yeah, I was looking into the EVGA card, but heard that the MSI Twin Frozr is quieter, cooler, and OC's better so I'm not completely sure yet
