How do I defrag my HDD?

I've heard of windows fragmenting. So I have done it, and it finished. But I don't think HDDs defrag in an hour. Or at least, my slow one doesn't. I have a Samsung HD204UI. How many passes does it need to run?

After "finishing", my C drive says its 0 % fragmented. Did it mean it worked, or no?

The time it takes to defrag your disk is completely dependent upon three facts: Speed of the hard drive (RPM or transfer speed), size of the disk, and how much data you have stored on said HDD. So if you have only, say 1/8 of your hard drive filled, it will not take as long as, say having it 1/2 filled.

Personally, I use Ccleaner's Defraggler as it helps scheduling and allows you to run quick and all-inclusive defrags. And it's free, so you can't go wrong.
