Hi all
I am currently running:
P5q MB
E8400
CM2X2048-6400 C5C Ver6.1 1.8v
Xfx gts 250 1gb
Cool power gx700 psu
Windows 7 x64

Now my issue is that if I try and run this ram in duel channel in either channels I get no post. If I run both slicks in dimm A slots it works fine. I have an extra pair of cm2x1024-6400 Ver5.2 c5 1.9v that I want to add to this system but as soon as I try and run duel channels or even just single channels setups I don't get post. The bios is the latest and I have reflashed with a fresh downloaded bios and cleared the CMOS. All bios setting are runnin on normal as I'm not too sure what to set things to.

I have contacted asus but because it's an old MB there isn't a lot they can do with replacement(plus the board was second hand).

I think that the board may have bad dimm b slots but I'm hopeing that it is just something I have overlooked.

Solution
what I would do is go into the bios and manually configure the memory settings by setting the timings, voltage, and latency suggested by the manufactures website of the memory. If that doesn't work I have seen this mostly dells but the memory sockets on the motherboard will just go bad over time. The only other thing that you could try is cleaning the sockets for your memory, and then taking a clean pencil eraser and cleaning the contacts of your memory.
For dual channel.

Yellow A1 Yellow B1.

If the timings of each memory stick sets differ.
And the voltage.

You will need to put the highest cas rated and timings of the memory in first.
Eg : 6-6-6-24

You then put the lower memory speed timings of the other two sticks into dims A2 and dim B2 both black.

You may hit a conflict with the voltages.
So if the 1.8v dimms are in first enter the bios and set the voltage to 1.9 for the other rated sticks.
Save the settings before exiting the bios and follow the prior instructions above.

Make sure both sets of ram run at the same speed should be 800 Mhz for 6400 DDR 2 memory.

Thanks for the response but the biggest issue is that I can't even get it to run in duel channel at all. Even using the two 1gig sticks I don't get post. On another thread I have read that if I up the north bridge voltage it support more ram it might help but if I'm only using 2x1 gig sticks I can't see why it won't support that. I have ordered another board from eBay and I hope that it will help but if that one fails two then I'm just gonna have to just put up with only running 4 gig in single channel

Awesome thanks I will try the eraser thing but what do I use to clean the slot with I know that vacuums are a bad thing with MBs as they suck up jumpers and can have static so what is the best option?
