Hi
Everything is compatible, but there are some balancing issues:
-The processor your friend has chosen is locked one, so there is no need for Z87 Motherboard. If he wants so save some money, it will be better to get H87, B85 or H81 Motherboard. If he plans in the future to upgrade to unlocked processor, he might stay with the same Motherborad.
-Also it is better to get 2x4GB of RAM, so the Motherboard will utilize the dual channel mode and it will work better than single 8GB of RAM

It means that the processor selected now by your friend (The i5 4430) is locked one (can't be overclocked), therefor there is no need for Z87 Motherboard (Z87 Motherboards are made for unlocked processors). Unlocked processors for Intel are the one that have ''K'' at the end of the model number. like:''i5 4670k'' or ''i7 4770k''
About H81, B85 or H87, they are almost the same and made for locked processors (i5 4430) and are generally cheaper than the Z87 Motherboards.
Hope this explains a bit.

G.skill Sniper 8Gb (2x4Gb)DDR3-1600 memory or the Corsair vengeance (2x4Gb)DDR3-1600 memory will perform the same, choose which one is cheaper. No need for 1866

Thanks for your suggestions.
Would you mind to answer why is there no need to use 1866? This is my last question I promise.Hahaha

Quite often the 87 series mobos have features eg more sata connections that the 81 1nd 85 don't have. But iof you can save some money then do so and maybe put it towards a GTX760.

Quite often these days you'll find that the 1866 RAM is the same price as the 1600. If that's so, then buy the 1866.
