Radeon hd 7870 crossfire problems

Hi there

Ive recently done abit of midel range upgrading and im having some problems with my crossfirex setup. 1st off my specs:

Asrock 970 extreme 3 mobo
Amd fx 8320 3.5 ghz proccessor (overclocked to4ghz)
700 watt bequiet l8 psu (supposedly runs 50amps per rail)
16gb corsair vengance ram

And the main prob im guessin

2x powercolour radeon hd 7870 ghz OC edition

With crossfire enabled im losing atleast 10-15fps on games like elder scrolls and teamfortress.
Have i configured something wrong or is it the games?

And should i ebay my cards and get a single card for around the £200 mark.

Any responses/suggestions appreciated

I do not quite understand your question? Firstly i would like to know what the your average FPS are you getting ,not losing, on games.

Start by checking your CPU speed and see if more heat is affecting the CPU or board VRM's. Unless the board is rev 2.0 that CPU is not supported on it because of power issues. (It was listed but they pulled the support after issues with VRM's showed up) http://www.asrock.com/mb/AMD/970%20Extreme3/?cat=CPU
I personally would only run a single card on your board having the second slot at X4 speed.

I was getting around 40-60 fps on ultra in say big towns or heavy loads but with crossfire im gettin 20. As for my cpu it passed all the stress tests on prime 95 and i used the overclockin guide tip on here and put my old cpu fan blowing down on my VRM. Would it not be cheaper to buy a new board than replace 2 cards and proccesor?

I also didnt notice about the proccessor :/ it doesnt say rev 2.0 on it

If you monitor your CPU clocks you would know if the extra heat in your case is causing issues, maybe run with the side off.

i have now checked and my extreme 3 mobo is indeed rev 2.0 verified by cpu z and the fact i have the xboost option which isnt on the extreme 3 standard as its called "turbo ucc". I dont know if ive said it but i do have aftermarket cooling also

According to this Skyrim does not handle crossfire well http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/AMD/HD_7790_CrossFire/18.html and http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/AMD/HD_7790_CrossFire/18.html but you should not be getting massive drops.
rev 2 of the board supports the CPU and with your VRM cooling it should be fine.

Hmm im unsure on what to do tbh, any suggestions on a single gpu for around £200? Im not bothered about nvidia/amd... Aslong as it fits in my board lol.
