Ok well first here are my Laptop specs.
Processor: Intel Core i7 4700MQ 2.4GHz.

Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GT 750m 2GB dual graphics.

Ram, memory: 8GB, 1TB 5400rpm HDD. So basically is 7200rpm better for loading times in lets say Skyrim also is it noticeable?. The laptop also has a UltraBay would that allow me to put in a 24GB SSD? (max it can hold 24GB) would it be faster?..hope you understand i'm quite confused.

Solution
Yes the SSD would be faster. The 7200 is also faster (not as fast as the SSD) but it may take a bit more battery life. Do you have a budget so I can suggest a different PC possibly? Thanks.

Hello gents, I know I late to the party here, but I upgraded my Samsung I-7 16GB system from 5400 RPM 1 TB to a 7200 Rpm for the internal HD one year age.. It was and is still an amazing difference. So I support the upgrade which should cost somewhere south of $100.00 ($74.00 for drive at Amazon.com.

By far the best combination would be 500 -- 1TB GB of SSD with 1 TB 7200 RPM HD combination. The 1TB Hybrid is 5400 RPM is also a good choice as well for general use... My use is for database development for SQL Server, so I have a 7200 rpm internal, 2 GB of the 16 GB or Ramdisk and two 1TB 7200 rpm HD on a USB 3.0 ports ... The system can be pounded for hours so I have a $5.00 fan for cooling pointed at the system for 2.5 Billion rows of data to be loaded ... What this means is I need the sustained I/O not just the quick..

My next system will be one with two internal drive slots, one will be 1 TB SSD and the other 1.5 TB 7200 rpm with 32 GB of Memory.. However, with the maturity of CLOUD database computing, this may never be necessary going forward...

So for general use a 1 TB Hybrid drive is preferred, But advanced gaming a the combination of SDD and a TB Hybrid drive would be really nice. IF you look at the $1,700,00 (+) MSI gaming system they are configured with the later SSD and HD arrangement...

Bottom line: Figure out what is important to you and will work on your current system and then either upgrade your system or your HD configuration on your current system.. Either way the reach for better speed will be realized.

HDDs are a dead platform, compared to SSDs performance-wise. They're excellent solution for massive files and long-term storage, but SSDs are incredibly faster, not only in mathematical way, but in practical.

And yes, 5,4k rpm vs. 7,2k rpm is a massive jump, but SSD will make it look irrelevant.
