Okay, made a new rig after 7 or so years so I'm a little out of the loop. Yesterday i built a new tower with no real complications. Plugged in a new monitor and I get no signal. I tried with an older monitor and still no luck.

Next i tried switching the card from the PCIEx16 to the PCIEx4. No better, also tried putting a friends old 1GB card into the x16 and I still cant get anything through.

To give more details, when I switch on, everything runs. Case fans and leds, cpu fan and even the gpus fans.

To note though my own 2gb gpus fans intermittently stop, regularly after 2 seconds in the 16x slot whereas the same happens in the 4x slot, only this time, one of the two fans doesnt work at all.

The 1gb card fan visually runs fine, though the sound makes it seem its doing the same (dipping in speed every 3 or 4 secs regularly)

Im a bit stumped, I wish I could test on board graphics but there is no other place to plug in a monitor aside from the gpus, and i cannot get front sound posts since doesnt seem to be any front pins for any mobo beeper that maybe hidden on the thing :p

Any help would be awesome, ta!

SPECS:

Asus Radeon R9 270 GDDR5 PCIE GPU
Zalman z9 plus midi tower

Yeah that spins. Everyrhing else too, aside from the intermittent stuff on the gpus that maybe something or nothing.

The 270 seated properly in the pciex16 slot and the lock closed? The 6 pin power plug from the PSU plugged into the 270? The monitor plugged into the DVI-I (as opposed to DVI-D) connector on the 270 using a VGA-DVI adaptor?

Yeah, lock is in to make sure the cards seated. I got the power plugged in fully on all occassions i tested on both mine and my friends.

Also yeah got it plugged into the DVI-I. Nice catch on noticing that i needed to use a VGA-DVI! Forgot to mention that. But yeah my friends card is a straight VGA and that also didnt work I'm afraid. :(

Turns out ive been checking all the cables, aside from the one that was actually loose! 12V square auxilliary for the mobo wasnt in. Which explains the intermittent fans on the most powerful thing there.

Novice mistake, thanks to those who helped!
