Hello I just bought an r9 290 like a month ago and im already seeing that there is an r9 390x coming out that is like twice as powerful? Please tell me this is in an entirely different price bracket because I dont want to feel like I basically got screwed over for buying an 290. From the amount of cores in it it must cost like 3 times as much, even the r9 295x2 only has 5600 stream processors and they are saying this one has over 4000.

With the supposed "leaked specs" it will handily outperform the GTX 780 Ti.. So do not expect it to be cheaper then one. I also wouldn't expect to see it available for purchase until Q1 of 2015 at the earliest. I expect it to be a $700-$800 card. So don't feel bad about your purchase considering you have one of the best (bang for your buck) cards on the planet. Not to mention that just because a newer card comes out. Doesn't mean your card wont still kick a games ass. Because it should still max most every game for many years to come.

Well if you consider R9 2X was a face lifting of the 7XXX series then its nothing weird, they now announced properly new generation. Obviously at the start i doubt that model will be available for 500$ as that 290 is now... so i don't think you did mistake this time.

It's been just a while since Amd has released their R series gpu. They released the r series next gen gpu about two years after the release of their previous gen gpu series. So it is safe to assume that r9 300 series will not be available till next one and half years or probably even two (can't be so sure though). So you made the right choice with r9 290.
And as per the price it will definitely won't be as cheap as r9 200 series because at the time of the r9 200 series gpu release, everyone was stunned to see so low prices.
Same can be the condition at the time of the release of r9 300, but it will not be equally cheaper to r9 200 series gpu.
