I just built this computer yesterday and it booted up fine and as I was installing all the drivers I went to install the GTX drivers it would say something like, graphics card not detected. ( I was using the cd for the drivers. So I went onto the website and downloaded the drivers and the same message appeared.

I ended up opening the computer and noticing i forgot one of the x8 plug for the power so I installed it and went to power up the system and now I have no signal ( I have a hdmi cable plugged into the mobo ) at all.

I tried unplugging the x8 power cable that I plugged in after and I still end up with no signal

So you have HDMI cable to the mobo, what is connected to the PCIe graphic card? HDMI also or DVI. Im not an expert on on board graphic cards. But I would think the best way would be to disable it in the BIOS when you have another one connected to the mobo. Or maby the bios autodetects that there is a new graphic card and disables the onboard. Then when it is disable boot the computer. Have speakers connected to the sound card to hear if it goes into windows. If it does, then check if the graphic card could be using the 1)HDMI 2)DVI 3)Display port connector. I have had this "problem" when I hooked my computer to the TV. At first boot everything was fine my monitor came on. Second boot with new video driver, the graphic card had switched to the TV (which was off). For about 10sec I thought that my install of the driver had gone bad. But then I remembered I had hooked my TV to the HDMI (which seems like the new driver wanted to use as default instead of the DVI). Turned on the TV logged in and changed my monitor setup so the default would be my monitor not the TV.

I tried to use any of the slots on the graphics card when I first built the comp. No signal was working so I switched to the hdmi slots on my mobo for signal. This was working find tell I booted down the comp and plugged in the second 6/8 cable from the psu to the graphics card.
If I boot up the computer I do hear windows booting up.
I tried to reset the bios manually but still no luck

Hi,

I understand that you're using your MoBO's graphic port. Please setup your BIOS and disable the onboard graphics controller. And then you can then use your GPU's HDMI or DVI port whichever cable you have.

By default it was already set to use PCI slot as primary video.

I also have signal now threw the MoBo. It was a faulty HDMI cord.

Now the only problem is to detect the graphics card so I can install drivers

Trekzone,

I have reseated it in the same slot and I've tried the x8 slot as well and still does not detect it.

I'm not sure what a graphic port is ( I'm not very techy I just learn computers by trail and error lol )

What I mean was where did you connect your monitor's video cable? from your GPU or still from the MoBO's graphics port? And have you tried disabling the Onboard Graphics Controller and connect your video cable to your GPU?

I tried the card again and no luck so still in the MoBo.

I actually just disabled the on board graphics threw device manger and It still wont detect the card.

Under:
Unknown devices it just has a yellow icon over it

Here's what you need to do..

1) Shutdown your PC.
2) Go into BIOS and disable the onboard graphics (not in Windows Device Manager)
3) save the BIOS settings
4) turn off your PC
5) transfer your video cable to the GPU graphics port
6) Turn on your computer
7) Find out if you got display in your Monitor.
8) if you have display (then continue to load Windows)
if no display (go back to step 4 and swap your GPU to another PCIe slot)
9) in Windows Install your GPU drivers

Yah I was afraid of that...

After doing some window updates I noticed under device manager, display adapters it no longer says " standard VGA graphics" but actually says intel(r) HD graphics 4600 instead.

I don't know if this will help but figured I post it

I was in the bois and I brought up the computer browser and it shows a diagram of the motherboard and you can scroll over anything and see what's installed. When I scroll over the pci slot it shows it's empty. Would that be more of a dead slot on the MoBo or a dead graphic card ?? The card fans work but just not getting detected

1) The manual for the card said windows 8.1 pro required but on the net is says all windows should work. Can anyone confirm this ?
2) there are two 8 pin slots on the card but the manual says use 1 8pin slot and 1 6 pin. Should I do this or two 8 pin ??

yes^^ I tried that and no luck.

I think it's a dead card because I tried my buddies card in my comp and it worked on the first go and even got a signal with the hdmi card in graphic card. I would have tried my card in his comp but his tower was to small
