They'll be compatible to the upcoming (next month) Z97 1150 mobos that are being released w/ the Haswell refresh CPUs

Same pin count (socket 1150) for Broadwell, think you may be thinking Skylake which will be on socket 1151, down the road. The Z97 chipset though, incorporates changes that will be required by Broadwell

Haswell and refresh supposed to be interchangable, the new mobos (Z97) are going to have some features that are better as far as thermal qualities and CPU handling along with other stuff - Tom's has an article on it:

From what I understand, all Haswell including the refresh will be compatible with Z87 and Z97 and Broadwell will be compatible with Z97 but not Z87 which is a huge mistake by Intel, or at least it would be if AMD was more competitive.

Guessing 1st quarter, some will depend on how well the Haswell refresh does, they might move it up sooner or drop a bit later

It's that or wait till May (around the 10th) for the Z97 mobos, and being new, they will initially probably be a little costlier, hough they may have bundled prices when you get a CPU at the same time
