I have the asus 144hz 1080p monitor, the vg248q. I just got a 780ti sc w/acx. I plan on getting another after I upgrade my monitor for sli. My question, is the pg278q worth the wait or is there a better ips panel out now worth getting at 1440p or maybe even 1600p for under $1000. The 120 hz(and I've heard it does 144 too) on the pg278q is very intriguing. But I do not know if I should wait or just go get something now.

If you are going to be playing FPS games, I wouldn't recommend an IPS panel. As far as I know, there aren't any IPS panels that are gaming oriented.

I would wait for the PG287Q if I were you.

thats the 4k one right? Sigh. I hate waiting.

I have an off topic question for you though. U pretty much have my same setup and I see you have your 3770k overclocked. My question is did you delid yours and reapply the TIM? I want to overclock my chip but I'm scared to delid. I have a hyper 212 as well.

The PG287Q is a 27" 1440p 120hz monitor. I wouldn't recommend a 4K monitor because you will need SLI 780 Ti's or Titan Blacks to be able to play on Ultra.

My 3770K is not delidded, but I am doing it this weekend. I got up to 4.7 GHz stable, but the temps were a little higher than I'd like. I bought some CLU and some thin razers to try it out this weekend. I'm scared too, but I'm just going to do it.

Very well I shall wait for the monitor I hope we hear something by early May.

I've never OCed a CPU but I am about to do it today or tommorrow. My goal is 4.5 or 4.6 but I assume when I hit those numbers and see the performance gain it will only urge me to go ahead and delid as well.

You should be able to hit 4.4 GHz relatively easy. Just read some OC guides. I believe when i was at 4.5 GHz I was stable at 1.20v

Well I overclocked but i think I got the raw end of the silicon lottery. I could get to 4.5 but I needed 1.345v to keep it stable. temps at that were entirely too high 93-99 on the cores. I clocked it down to 4.4 at 1.280(cpu-z recordes 1.296 with llc on extreme). temps 70-79. I'm staying at that. I've read people either have a card like mine that can cool higher voltage without delidding or cards like yours that hit higher temps at lower volts but overclock better. I'f I delid or watercool I'm sure i could hit 4.5, really have no desire to go higher as this is my first cpu overclock ever. Thank you for the help Kekoh I appreciate it.
