Press the Windows button and "P" at the same time and select the display mode you want.

Have done that. When I click extended or duplicate buttons, it does noting but disappear. The monitors only have VGA ports, I had to get an VGA adapter for the dci port on the tower

Looking at pictures on newegg, you computer may only have a DVI-D port and not DVI-I:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

If it is only a DVI-D port then a DVI-I to VGA cable will not work. DVI-D only provides digital; DVI-I provides digital and analog; VGA is analog. So you need a DVI-I port in order for the DVI-I to VGA cable to work (to get analog to analog).

Still, I wonder how the cable would even plug in if the port was only DVI-D... so maybe you have the correct DVI-I port.

The way to tell if it is DVI-D or DVI-I is to look for the long pin or bar next to all the other smaller pins. If it is just a single bar, then it is only DVI-D. If the bar has two small pins above the bar and two small pins below the bar, then it is DVI-I. Examples:
DVI-I:

DVI-D:

One or more people have reported that you can get a DVI-D to VGA converter. Example: http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-2079820/dual-mon... July Edit: Nevermind, it wasn't DVI-D to VGA.
