I want to get into PC gaming but have no idea where to start. I want to build my own computer but have no clue as to what all these different parts and components mean. I started messing with configurations on pcpartspicker.com and came up with this http://pcpartpicker.com/p/3u08f . Can anyone tell me if this is a decent build or a piece of junk, maybe even recommend other custom builds. Keep in mind that I will probably listen to any advice given since this is all moon speak to me :). Thanks in advance.

You should be able to play all the latest release games on High or Ultra settings for the next two years and get very playable frame rates(40+FPS) Most games you will be able to play at or very near 60 FPS with High settings.
cpu:i7 3770k mobo z77-ds3h psu fatality t50w 80+bronze memory corsair vengeance ddr3 2x4 1600mhz G.SKILL DDR3-1600 PC3-12800 4096MBX2 SSD 2.5 OCZ agility 4 256GB LG EVGA GeForce GTX660 SC signature 2 GDDR5 2GB PCI EXPRESS 3.0 your can copy thous parts just add case and cd/dvd playear

No need for (3) 4GB sticks of RAM. Just get (2) 4GB sticks. That motherboard is a dual channel memory config. You should also drop the sound card and network card. Your motherboard will have those. Put the money you save from those parts into a GTX 760 2GB video card.

I made a few changes to make it a better gaming rig. Changed to an Intel CPU, faster ram, an SSD(faster booting and load times), larger PSU so you can SLI later.

Here's what I changed http://pcpartpicker.com/p/3u3Ri . Also any ballpark figure as to how it will run? Maybe compared to other prebuilt rigs. I would like to know what games this thing could run and at what settings. I don't know if you could tell just by looking at the parts but it would be greatly appreciated if you could.

Thanks I'll start saving money for each of the parts then, with maybe a few modifications as I learn more. Fingers crossed I don't mess it up trying to put it all together. :)
