Trying to run ESXI 5.5. (free hypervisor) run on a new desktop i7 4th gen processor, 12GB RAM. It's a new Asus but I keep getting the darn "cannot see the network adapter.." error when installing it. Any suggestions?

Here is a simple link for doing this with the i217v .vib .HERE

I downloaded and installed the editor, added the original ISO, added the .vib file, exported the new build to a folder then burned it to a disk.

Installation went well up to the part where it says "Warning this computer is not set up for virtualization..." or something like that and now I'm huntin and pecking through the BIOS to see if I can enable it.

ASUS BIOS 0402 x64
Build date 11/29/2013
ME ver 9.0.13.1402

CPU i7 4770S CPU@3.1GHz

Total memory 12 GB DDR3

Didn't find anything that says to enable virtualization, &^*%R*&$ RATS!!!

It probably has a newer Intel NIC, like an i217. you have to load the drivers to get it to work, or use an older addin card.

This is the closest article I found in my recent search. From what I remember of the process, this is pretty close to what I did. I had to load Chelsio drivers on a server about a year ago.

Honestly, it's probably easier to put in an Intel addon card. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001CY0P7G/ref=ox_ya_os_product_refresh_T1

I have egg on my face.

After mucking around with this and enabling VT-D under CPU configuration and getting shot down the boss walks in and asks how is it going. I tell him of everything I did. He waltzes through the BIOS and found a scroll bar under Advanced\CPU Configuration. Down at the bottom says Intel Virtualization Technology then enabled it.......
