Is a 550w power supply enough for a gtx 770?

I have a cooler master gx 550 and I was wondering if I could run it with my system. I have a fx6300 processor, 8gb ram, 2tb HDD,gtx 770 and a DVD drive.

  1. On nVidia's site it is recommended to use 550w. Also, cm psus aren't really good so I suggest you to either upgrade your PSU or get a GPU that requires less power.
  2. you can get an XFX 550 watt 80+bronze psu for about $50, and its great quality.
  3. but, for now you should be ok.
  4. 550W is sufficient, as is the 12V rail at 44A. But Cooler Master GX is rather low quality, so it's a bit borderline. I would recommend not overclocking, and you might want to consider upgrading to a higher quality unit at some point (XFX, Seasonic etc).
  5. I would suggest getting a good quality 650w psu, such as XFX or Seasonic.
  6. A GeForce GTX 770 needs at least 42 amps on the 12v rail and a 550w power supply.

The GX550 has 44 amps on the 12v rail and 2 - 6+2 POWER connections and is sufficient to power your specs.

yes it is proficient, but the card itself wont draw 42 amps, it could only draw 24.16666.... even if pulling the max out of the mobo and psu. but, the card itself is limited to about ~19 amps.
