So recently my computer has been doing a few weird things, progressively getting worse it seems. The first time, my computer completely locked up, with speakers buzzing, and I had to hard reset. This happened one more time, then it just started rebooting by itself, and the mouse wouldn't work until about 5 minutes after the reboot.

I'm not sure if this helps, but in device manager there is an exclamation point next to USB Mass Storage Device. I tried uninstalling it, didn't do anything. Still has the exclamation point.

I have a mouse, keyboard, webcam/mic, and that's all. I forgot to add the problem seems consistent with video, but not video GAMES? It's happpened three times watching twitch.tv streams, once watching and episode of south park, and once downloading a video driver that had a few moving animations in the window.

Specs:
Intel Core i7-4770K
NVIDIA EVGA geforce GTX 780
MSI Z87-GD65 Motherboard
1 Samsung 120GB SSD (Windows 8.1 installed on SSD)
1 Seagate Barracuda 2TB HD

I am assuming it's not any kind of malware, I've only used the computer a handful of times and I haven't done anything I don't normally do. It's brand new. I've also already tried uninstalling/reinstalling the corrupt usb drive. Are you thinking it'd make a difference reinstalling ALL of them in safe mode?

I was about to update the bios. I have installed the sata drivers, chipset drivers, and audio drivers. I wasn't sure if I should bother with the onboard VGA drivers because I'm not exactly sure what that is and I didn't want it to interfere with the video card I have installed.

EDIT: I really appreciate the replies by the way, I've sunk so much time and money into this computer and I'll be pretty upset if I don't get it working the way I'd like it to.

Sorry to sound so incompetent, but I downloaded the BIOS update from MSI's website, and all it did was put a file on my computer. There was so set-up option inside the files or anything like that. Is that the way it's supposed to be?

EDIT: There is ten downloads under the BIOS section as well, should I just be downloading the most recent one?

You must have downloaded the incorrect version the BIOS update utility. Possibly got the one that's not intended to be use on your system. Try to download CPU-Z and run it.. and see what BIOS version you have under BIOS in the Mainboard Tab of CPU-Z tool. Compare it to the one you've downloaded to find out if you really need to update the BIOS firmware.

Okay so I played a couple video games for a few hours, nothing happened. Then I let it sleep for a while, nothing happened. So let me restate that this problem seems to be VERY consistent with just video or animation of any sort so far. If you think updating my BIOS will help, I will keep trying that as well. However I just think it's strange that it also seems to coincide with the problem I'm having with my mouse on reboots. This seems to be a somewhat unique problem, because after all my research I cannot find a solution online or even anyone with exactly the same symptoms. All your help is appreciated, this is a pretty frustrating issue and as I said I spent a lot of time and money trying to make this computer nearly perfect. So thanks to anyone who has replied.

I just unplugged the webcam/mic, went to device manager and the usb mass storage device with the exclamation point is gone. I'll go see if maybe that was causing the video crashes somehow right now.

So far no crashes, and to be completely honest with you I might not even look for the drivers. The thing is 10 years old and needs to be replaced anyway. If this works and there are no more crashes, thanks a lot for thinking of such an easy fix. Will be a big relief.
