Im updating my computer since my motherboard fried out and I have a problem. Bought a new Asus M5A97 R2.0 board. Hooked everything up, but during my bios menu My computer will just...shut itself off. Im running and AMD phenom II cpu. I noticed that the temp rises awfully fast up to about 170° before this auto shut off. I have three case fans. Why is this happening!?

Solution
170 degrees and auto shutdown means that you have a bad cpu cooler mount. Remove the cooler, clean off the thermal compound from the processor and the cooler, and reapply it, in a rice-sized line in the middle of the CPU. Put the cooler back on, making sure to screw it on opposite corners, and boot and see what the temps are.
