Ok guys, I just finished my first build. Or so I thought. I plugged everything in, checked it, re checked it, but nothing's working! Here's how it went down.

1. I finished building, then I plugged in monitor, mouse and keyboard.
2. I plugged in the PSU and flipped the switch. Nothing.
3. I unplug everything, and just check one fan to make sure the PSU is working (Using paper clip on the 24 pin plug)
4. The fan works! Awesome. The PSU is not dead.
5. I re plug everything (PCI-E slot, Optical Drive, HDD, the 4 pin slot next to my processor that I don't know what it does, fan)
6. I flip the switch again. This time, I noticed a green light next to the 24 pin mobo connector light up. Nothing else goes. Not the GPU fan, not the heat sink, nothing.
7. I come to tomshardware on my laptop in search of answers. What is the problem?

From what you stated it seems like you are expecting the PC to power on by switching the PSU power button, if so that is not how it works. A power button needs to be connected directly to your motherboard's front panel connectors to power on. If you don't have a button to use you can always use a screwdriver or and other piece of conductive material to short the motherboards power pins.

Oh my lord! NOOB ALERT!
I forgot to plug my power connector in, but I don't exactly know... how.... I'm using an older board, the Intel D955XBK, any chance you could, point me in the right direction?

I just plugged my ones in for power, Reset and LED following that, and, after a press of the power button, I get a flashing blue light above a lightning bold (power im assuming) in the front, and a green flash in my LAN port in the back. Still no dice

EDIT: Scratch that, I just tapped my optical drive cable and it worked... for about 30 seconds. Never got any screen activity, however. Just all the fans/heatsink/gpu

Ooh, and I got a new speaker message:
DEE DOO DEE DOO

AND if I take the GPU out, the beeping stops, but it still shuts down. CAN ANYONE HELP
