Installed new CPU, Updated Bios, and still have a black screen.

Hey folks,

Tonight, I updated the bios on my Acer Aspire 5532, and installed a new CPU. However, I'm getting a black screen. The power comes on, and the fan revs for about 5 seconds, then it goes quiet, and the display is still black. What do I do?

possible video drivers. do you have an aftermarket video card or is it built into the mobo

Its built in. But I also just updated the graphics drivers last week.

What CPU did you put in??? It might be a battery issue, try taking out the Battery and put it back in,

Does it work when you reinstall the old CPU? What is the new CPU and is it officially supported?

I upgraded from a TF-20 to an AMD Turion 64 X2. I've tried taking out the battery and putting it back in. Still nothing.

Updated bios while in windows, but still nothing. Then, about an hour ago, I put the old CPU back in, and it worked.

So then I put the new CPU back in, and got the black screen again.

The CPU either is defective (is it brand new?) or the BIOS is too old to support it (unlikely because version 1.09 should also support it).
