So about a week ago my friend accidentally dropped my 2Tb external hdd and it stopped working. I decided to tear it open and install it internally but it gives off an error when I try to initialize it (says incorrect function on MBR). Also when I try to initialize it using GPT it says that its less than the minimum size required for GPT disks. Is this drive completely borked or is their any way to salvage the data or drive?

You could try using http://gparted.org/livecd.php
to make a bootable disk and try to restore the MBR.
Not sure how it will work though, since the drive might be busted anyway.
