Weird stuttering/FPS lag after a few minutes

I have a Geforce GTX 570 and I'm looking to upgrade soon, however until then I would like to slightly overclock my GPU. However it seems that when I overclock it, no matter how little, after a 3-10 minutes in any video game I start to get major stuttering and freezing. After a bit of that my card crashes and recovers, crashing any game I had running. I watched the temperature, it doesn't go over 60 when playing ArmA or Battlefield 4. Let me know if you need any other information thanks.

Worst case is that the GPU is stuffed and that you can't sell it and can't overclock it.
Have you changed voltage on it? Too high voltage does weird sh** like that. Its temps would also be a bit higher than normal even if it wasn't overclocked. You using Afterburner. What brand GPU?

I believe it's an Asus, I've had it for a few years now, it's probably run it's course. Yeah I'm using afterburner.

I've changed the voltage and I've tried not changing the voltage, it still seems to do the same thing.

EDIT: Oh I forgot one major thing. When doing stress tests it works fine, it doesn't go over 70 and there's no artifacting or anything, but if I try and play a game it craps out.
