This is my first time building a PC. I managed to finish putting it together and did a successful boot. The problem is I heard no post beep at all. It goes straight to a black screen asking for a boot device if nothing is pressed. When I do press Delete, I can enter the BIOS. I don't know how to find out if there is anything wrong.

Is it because I have no internal speaker? My motherboard is an MSI Z87-G43. It did not come with an internal speaker. I would appreciate your help.

Solution
it doesnt have a speaker not needed. as long as you got in bios your pc is just fine. as for the boot device. it cannot detect a HDD/SSD with windows are you sure you installed windows?

Thank you very much!

Also, is it okay to install an internal speaker anyways? Or rather is it necessary? Is there any way to determine if there is a problem at start up without the post beeps?

I don't know what brand or model it is, but I was wondering if I can use the speaker from my old computer.

you can use any internal speaker it will work just fine. if your mobo gets beep codes then your pc wouldnt get a signal at all. but your mobo is fine :) when you plug in the speaker and hear a beep while starting up that means it posted and the pc is working with no issues.

hope the helps :).
