Hello guys,

So I found an unused hard drive in a broken laptop I had lying around, and I wanted to use it as another drive. But there were two partitions and I wanted only one so I deleted both and made one simple drive.

Problem is, when I looked at Disk Manager, it said that the disk was dynamic, and the other drives that I saw were only basic, and I thought that I might have done something wrong so I searched around the internet on how to convert dynamic disks to basic disks.

I followed the steps on this page (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc776315(v=ws.10).aspx) and the new hard drive was back to basic. I think I may have done something wrong in the process. When I use detail disk command on my boot drive, it says that it has no free space left. I have no idea what's going on.

Note, my computer can still start, but I have to use the boot manager every time and it takes about 5-10 minutes, which might cause some problems for me and anyone else who might use my pc in the future. Can anyone help?

Solution
Alright, so I searched the net and I fixed my problem. But just in case anyone else needs help, here's what I did:

-Changed from IDE to AHCI in BIOS
-Loaded Windows installation disk
-Opened command prompt in advanced settings
-Ran bootrec (/fixmbr, /fixboot/, rebuildmcd)
-Ran Windows Automatic Repair

Lost a few of my apps, but at least it worked again! :D

I have a system restore set to 4 days before I accidentally disturbed something. If I restore to that image, will it go back? Also, removing the extra drive has no effect on the problem.

Are you on UEFI? Try disabling secure boot and fast boot, the hiberfile may be causing problems. Check boot order to make sure it isn't trying to boot the other HDD. Also make sure one has the right boot sector. Remove the boot sector on the one without the OS.

Still nothing. I think I know what I did wrong now. I deleted partitions from the extra drive using command prompt. I used DISKPART, then deleted the volumes from the laptop drive. I think I forgot to select the extra drive before doing so. Could that have caused the problem somehow? By the way my computer still works, dunno why...

Edit: I checked Disk Manager again, and my C partition wasn't marked as active. Is that the reason why it won't boot.

Edit: I marked the drive as active. The next day this message appeared
