Sound Driver is installed, but no sound

Was on Skype, accidentaly hit the power button when pluggin something in in the USB port. I turned it back on and the sound decided to stop working. I started looking into it, and I realized something was up with the sound driver. After doing alot of crap, I finally realized to update the driver. So it starts working and I go to bed. I come back to the computer saying something about Microsoft SQL, shrug it off and go on some websites. Notice there's no sound, and try to update the driver again, 'cept this it didn't work. I uninstalled SQL, reading that it tends to stop certain downloads (or something of the like). Now I've tried, pretty much everything, so any help is much appreciated

Is the sound card installed with no errors in Device Manager? If it is, and you tried both front and back ports, uninstall it from Device Manager and try again. You may have fried something on the motherboard if everything looks good but nothing is working.

Get all BIOS and driver updates from the computer vendor, especially the chipset drivers, and try again.
