Long story short, my 298GB PS3 Slim hard drive got corrupted and needs to be formatted. Simple, right? The problem is, everytime the format completes, it says that "Windows was unable to complete the format". This happened with Fat32, NTFS and exFat.
I tried to use Disk Management, Disk Part and even 3rd party software like MiniTool Partition. Disk Part was the only one getting a different error message, saying that the file size was too big to be formatted. On all of these I attempted a full format.
I just can't get this thing to work... any help is really appreciated.

Not being able to format a drive in most circumstances means the heads are failing or in a small number of cases it could be caused by firmware or PCB problems.

I don't know how warranty replacement works on PS3 hard drives, but you'll need to replace it either way.
