Main Hardware:

CPU - AMD FX-8350 (new out of box)
RAM - 8GB (2x 4GB DDR3)
Motherboard: GA-970A-DS3P (new out of box)
GPU: Radeon HD 7870

I'm trying to build my new PC and after plugging in all of the components and cables correctly, nothing happens.

I'm getting no post beeps from the speaker no matter how much I take out and plug back in things. All the fans are spinning. Except something of note is that my GPU fan isn't spinning fully when the PCI-E cables are plugged into it, but it does when they're unplugged?!

I get no display on the monitor at all. No matter what I try.

I've been reading online that my motherboard may not support the FX 8350 even though it was listed as being supported online. Some people have recommended trying to update the BIOS via USB. But wouldn't I still be getting a display of some sort? How am I supposed to update the BIOS if nothing is being displayed on the screen.

I'm so confused.

The BIOS Revision of the Motherboard may be to early to support the FX-8350. And no, you will not get a display if the CPU isn't supporting in the BIOS.

After researching your Motherboard online, I found this - http://www.gigabyte.com/support-downloads/cpu-support-p...

The link indicates that the FX-8350 has been supported since the first ever BIOS released. So, we can rule out incompatibility issues completely.

Now that's all sorted, I'll give you some troubleshooting tips.

1) Reseat the RAM - Use 1 stick of RAM at a time and see if the PC powers on.

2) Reset CMOS - Take out the little battery located on the motherboard and let it sit for 5 minutes. Then, power the machine back up.

3) Try a different power supply.

4) Reseat graphics card. Take it out, and put it back in. Make sure your using the top slot for the GPU.

What do you mean the GPU fans don't spin fully?

I have the very same MB and CPU, there`s no problem with the BIOS supporting this CPU.

If you have the possibility, try the PSU, GPU and RAM in another system, then you`ll remain to MB or CPU being maybe faulty.

Done this http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/261145-31-perform-ste...
If the board is really bad I suggest replacing it with the GA 970A UD3P which is a much better suited board for FX8 core https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/pub?key=0AgN1D79Joo... (it is a newer version of the UD3 sharing the power phases)

Ohim, are you using a Rev. 3 or 4? Because I have Rev 1.

SethJPC, it's kind of stuttering? Like, it's ticking over, not spinning nicely.

I came across this thread when I had trouble...and the only helpful part of this thread is the recommendation to pull everything apart, and put it back together.
GA-970A-DS3P has only 1 version
GA-970A-DS3 is the MOBO that needs ver 3+

if you have GA-970A-DS3P and it does not work for whatever reason, breadboard it, and be very detailed with the case hook ups.
Im not sure what caused mine to not post the first time...I think a negative LED connector was on the wrong pin (postive and negative have single a pin separating them)...but not sure. Maybe cpu wasnt seated correctly, I have no idea

Reinstalled everything, this time with a $2 mobo speaker and booted up fine...

I also use fx-8350
