I have swapped hard drives, but with the new hard drive it goes to media fail > no bootable device please restart your system

On the original hard drive it is stuck on the splash screen with no options for me to get into the bios

spam delete after turning it on.

This is a huge problem that has caused many of novices to discard their hard drives. However it is an EASY FIX.
The problem is that the harddirve you are installing was formated using non-AHCI setting. To make your hard drive work just go into the bios and change the hard drive setting to anything but AHCI. Presto! All is well.

the thing is i cant get into the bios at all...on the splash screen i have no options for entering into the bios
Any other way to get into the bios? or is the motherboard the issue?

Try this: Toshiba Notebook [Newer models]
1. Turn on computer by Holding down power button while pressing the ESC key.
The machine will beep, then display:
Check System, then press [F1] key.
2. Release ESC key
3. Press F1 key

When your computer first starts up, the first thing you see on your screen, does it allow you to click any keys? For example, does it state press F12 for boot menu, or anything similar? If so, please reply back with what options you are provided. It may only display for a split second.

When you see the Toshiba logo, press F2. If it doesn't work, then try again and constantly just tap F2 like there's no tomorrow (i.e. reboot your system, and as soon as it starts just hit F2 constantly.)

If that doesn't work, then try pressing F12 for boot options.
