My motherboard has alternating colours on the ram slots (black and blue)
Putting the two sticks into the same colour enters dual channel mode
What is this ???

Solution
you get twice the bandwidth, in single channel mode blocks of memory are written to one stick and then the next block to another. in dual channel each block is split between sticks, hence the memory can be read more quickly as both sticks take part in a read event.

Hence dual channel is the preferred mode.

Solution
putting the rams in same colors will get them in dual mode and make them work together. but putting them in different color slots may decrease performance due to one of them not being in the correct order of memory and data not being at dual channel. its like running separate rams without working together.
