So before 2 days I was casually using my computer and all of the sudden I heard clicking noise and the system froze. I restarted it and while booting there was still that clicking noise and also boot was very slow...so I opened my case to hear where the sound is coming from...I already assumed it was HDD, but just to be sure...so I checked it and it was HDD the one that was producing that noise. Even though I knew that HDD is going to die sooner or later I kept using my PC normally and there was no differences in terms of performance and speed. So day after that HDD was occasionally making that clicking noise but the computer kept working normally but on second day I left computer on and I left the room and when I came back I saw black screen and text saying "NTLDR is missing". So I unplugged all usb devices and I went to BIOS and there was no HDD (not detected) So I just assumed that HDD died?

So, Is my HDD really dead ? Can I do something else to be sure that is dead or is that its end?

Solution

WOW, someone who actually has a backup plan of some kind. Well done. And yes the HDD is 99% probably dead.you could try freezing it and accessing it through a caddy.

I have all my important stuff in cloud and on my external drive so I have not lost anything. I just wanted to be sure if its dead.
