Hello All,
Is it possible to get just Microsoft Office Starter, with out purchasing an expensive Office Suite?
I've been looking around in Microsoft.com, and other software sources, but have not had any luck.
Thanks for the help

Microsoft doesn't do that anymore outside of trial software on new computers. You can try Office 365 for 1 month free. http://office.microsoft.com/en-ca/free-trial-try-microsoft-office-2013-and-office-365-products-FX102858196.aspx

Although if you're looking for a good open source word processing suite I'd recommend Libre Office. It will save documents in Office format for when you're sending files to friends who don't use ODF (Open Document Format) compatible office software (Microsoft Office).

Yeah...I personally like OpenOffice.org a lot...a whole lot. But I was looking for Microsoft Starter for an elderly lady who is used to Microsoft, I'm afraid she would have difficulties learning Libre (or OpenOffice) because it does not have the same "feel" with what she is used too, and having to save as an Microsoft document, instead of an ODF extension...trying to find something simple for her...she is "getting up there"
Thanks

It is possible in OpenOffice and Libra to change the default save settings to .DOC (Office Compatible). I do that for all the people I install either program for before leaving them to it. Makes it simpler for them and reduces the number of emails entitled "I sent a file to a friend and they can't open it."

Actually, I just found a website which has Starter 2010 (Word & Excel) for free. I loaded it on a computer, and so far, it seems as if it is working correctly. I'll keep an eye on it to see if it wants me to throw some $$ at it.
Thanks for the help

PS. Open Office and Libre Office are definitely the way to go these days, I believe they are far more stable than Microsoft Office, not to mention Open Source...which is how computing should be.
