Hey there,

I know its been discussed here before but still I can not find an exact answer!

My Specs:
CPU: i7 4770K
MoBo: ASUS Maximus VI Hero
Ram: 8GB DDR3
Monitor: 1920 x 1080p

So now I'm gonna buy a GPU, So which one is better among 780 and 290 and why?

Greetings!

I find NVIDIA better for consistent performance and cooling and low fan noise.

I personally would go with the GTX780 but really depends on price the 290 is a little more powerful http://anandtech.com/show/7492/the-geforce-gtx-780-ti-r...

780 for sure. More reliable driver support, better overclocking and less heat/better cooling.

What do you mean best one? Each card has different strengths and weaknesses.
780 is better for recording due to shadowplay, has more room for overclocking and produces less heat so tends to be quieter and cooler.
290 tends to have slightly higher fps, mantle support and an extra GB of VRAM.

Extra 1gb vram is useless, mantle only helps systems with high end gpus and low end cpu's and directX 12 is comming soon which does the same thing as mantle so to speak so the mantle arguement is pointless now as it didnt do anything near what everyone thougbt it was going too. Having the cpu he does mantle will not do much for him at all. Be better off waiting for directX 12.

Then in that case would you be preferring GTX 780?

Well I agree but What I meant is, Ive heard NVIDIA has better Drivers and Yeah they do keep their Card cooler comparing to AMD card (290). So my personal choice is GTX 780 but really if 290 performs better than this then why would I be buying a 780? :)

Out of the box stock clocked 290 is faster than stock clock 780 but not by much. The 780 clock much much higher and at that point leaves the 290 behind. Why noone has seen this trend I dont know. Amd is almost always cheaper and they make some great products but nvidia always beats them in performance. They may cost more but they always win.
