I have an XFS version of the Radeon HD 7700. I understand that it is capable of supporting 6 different monitors. I need to have 4 independent screens coming from this card. The card has the following connectors:

1 DVI-D
1 DVI-I
1 HDMI
1 Displayport

All of the monitors I have are capable of taking an HDMI and/or a DVI connection. None can do a direct Displayport connection.

I have two displays working by connecting one to the HDMI port and the other to the DVI-I port.

When I add a third monitor via the display port, the software will not allow me to create an extended desktop to this display. It will only allow me to span to this display.

I need 4 displays. As I understand it, I should be able to do the following:

Monitor 1 - HDMI
Monitor 2 - DVI-I
Monitor 3 & 4 - Active Displayport hub with display port to HDMI adapters.

Would this allow me to configure all of the screens as independent? Does the display port output require that the display have a display port input?

Thanks!

Solution
That sounds right. The card can display 2 monitors but after that you need Active Displayport to syc them up. You have that with the hub so you should be good.

I have the Radeon 7700 card. So let me get this right, you can only do: 1-HDMI + 1-DVI? If you have a 2nd DVI port that has to be converted to HDMI along with the Display-adapter port? Therefore, You will have to have 3 HDMI Monitors and 1-DVI monitor to get to 4-monitors?
Greatly appreciate your help.
