Hi, I have a 4 years old notebook which I use to play some games (plays LoL Very High at 60fps) but whenever it reaches 85ish degrees Celsius GPU usage goes down to 33% in order for GPU to cool down, which can be troublesome. I cleaned my laptop and it only made it last a bit longer until it reaches 85ish. Does changing the thermal paste massively decrease temps or does it barely change anything? Also does buying external fans (that thing you put under your laptop who has fans) help by a lot? Sorry if this is the wrong forum to ask ^^ (also sorry for the bad English)

Solution
Replacing the thermal paste can bring down the tamps by 3-5 degrees, and you could also get a product like this if your laptop still overheats. Also make sure to use it in places with lost of ventilation for the fans, like a desk, not a carpet floor or in bed.

Replacing thermal paste can bring temps down MUCH more than 5c,if the thermal paste is badly applied/drying out.
I just replaced the stock thermal paste on my GPU and load temps went from 73-80c to 60-65c.
