How to find out if ssd is truly corrupt?

Used ps3 ultra slim 12 gig flash memory selected "file system restore" and got a message "the file system on the system storage is corrupted and will be restored" i redo the file system restore and get the same message before i attempts to restore.

Did the same again with a brand new Transcend SSD 64GB and get the same message just before the system attempts a restore.

How do i find out for sure my ssd is truly corrupted?

My issue is that i can play games and watch blu-ray dvd's without issue the only exception would be "the last of us" This game fails to progress passed the loading screen even with the update.

How can the ssd be corrupt if everything works except for one game?

Im not entirely computer literate but say the flash memory that came with the ps3 is corrupt would that mean any hdd/ssd i install will get a corrupt ps3 software/firmware install as well?
