Wondering if I should replace my CPU and Motherboard?

Hey guys,
I have an AMD FX 8350 and an ASUS Sabertooth 990fx. Ever since I got the 8350 last year, I felt somewhat regretful I didn't go Intel over AMD. At the time I bought the computer I didn't know a lot about PCs. I assumed since the FX is 4 GHz and has more cores, it was better. Also, my Dad works with someone who builds computers for a living suggested it too. Though, now that i know more about computers, I realize that going intel would have been better. So, I was thinking of selling my FX 8350 and Asus Sabertooth 990fx to my friend for a total of $300. Since it is in perfect condition, I've only had it for a year and I bought the two parts for a total of around $350, my friend and I think this is a fair price. If I did go this route, I would buy an i7 4770k for $250 from Micro center, and a good motherboard, (my budget for it would be up to around $300). The reason I am even considering this is that I recently won a contest and I have a decent amount of money to spend. But, what I am wondering is if this is even worth it. Is it worth an extra $250 for a new cpu and motherboard? Would I just be better off saving my money? Also, this PC is mainly used for gaming, coding and I will most likely get into Photoshop at some point before I need a new computer. Please ask me any questions… Thanks!!

My rig is in my sig.

No. The 8350 comes close the i5, which is just barely behind an i7 ( gaming wise). Unless you plan on doing some heavy editing, there's no point in upgrading to an i7. Don't waste your time and money trying to sell your CPU and mobo, the performance boost for the price will not be worth it :)

I think your putting too much emphasis on what you could have and not enough on what you do have. Does the FX-8350 (be honest) give you a good gaming experience? If so, end of story (sort of).

Now, if you have the money to burn, why not upgrade? It's really a question of where do you stand. "It's good enough" or "I want more". If it's good enough, stand pat. If you want more, make the deal and spend more. Personally, I lean more towards the "good enough" area.
